What a name change is

A name change — sometimes sold as a rename ticket, a name change scroll, or a character name change item — lets you replace the name of a character you already have. In most games it is a paid store item, occasionally bundled into an event or a founder package.

Availability, price and limits are set per region and change with patches. This site has no verified data on Aion 2 pricing for any region and does not publish figures, because a number written this month is wrong next month.

What a rename usually cannot fix

• A name that is already taken on your world — the new name passes the same availability check.
• A name you simply grew bored of: the same impulse usually returns with the next character.
• Names on characters or items your region has locked, such as pets or legendary items.
• Anything a region filter has rejected; the replacement goes through the same filter.

Choosing once, properly

The cheapest name change is the one you never buy. Five minutes of preparation covers almost every case:

• Decide the sound first — faction, then class, then style — and only then the spelling.
• Say the final three candidates out loud before you commit to one.
• Prefer two or three syllables with a familiar spelling pattern.
• Avoid jokes and meme references; they age faster than anything else in a name.
• Keep the last two candidates in your favorites in case the first is taken.

When a rename is actually worth it

• You are returning after a long break and the name no longer fits the character.
• A merge or transfer left you with an unwanted tag, spelling or suffix.
• You want the same character name across regions for consistency.
